What You’ll Do at Shellex:  

  • Plan layout design for chemical and manufacturing plants. 
  • Plan and prepare equipment, piping, and ductwork designs in 3D and in co-ordination with other disciplines. 
  • Prepare construction drawings consisting of orthographic and isometric equipment and piping designs. 
  • Prepare Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID). 
  • Perform site surveys as required for field measurements and surveys to produce as-built drawings. 
  • Participate in the technical review of projects.  
  • Ensure validity of design drawings including dimensions, conformance with equipment cut sheets, layout, construction tolerances and conflicts between design elements.  
  • Review deliverables and ensure that the content is complete and meets the design intent defined by design criteria. 
  • Adhere to project timelines, hourly budgets, and schedules for assigned tasks. 

 

Qualifications required: 

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology. 
  • Certified Engineering Technologist an asset. 
  • Must be proficient with 2D and 3D modelling in AutoCAD Plant 3D and have demonstrable experience. 
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.1 and B31.3.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. 
  • At least 4 years of experience in a similar role in the chemical process industry. 
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License. 

 

Aptitudes required: 

  • Attention to detail and results focused. 
  • Works well in a team and independently.  
  • Excellent communication skills (Spoken and written English).   
  • Proficiency in French an asset (but not required). 
  • Team and client-focused. 
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, flexible.
