What You’ll Do at Shellex: 

  • Define scope and project objectives with clients and prepare proposals.  
  • Assist in process design, cost estimates and studies to meet client needs. 
  • Liaise with clients on technical requirements and project timelines.  
  • Produce project deliverables including scope definition, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams. 
  • Perform detailed calculations for mass and energy balances, heat transfer, pipe and pump sizing, and equipment sizing. 
  • Prepare equipment technical specifications and make recommendations and selections based on project requirements. 
  • Prepare specification and tender packages for vendors and contractor quotation. 
  • Review and approval of vendor shop drawings. 
  • Participate in PHA and HAZOP reviews. 
  • Work with CAD technicians to produce construction and installation drawing packages. 
  • Ensure all work performed complies with company procedures, codes, and regulations. 
  • Obtain vendor quotations and coordinate equipment procurement. 
  • Field work for commissioning and project support. 

 

Qualifications required: 

  • University degree in Chemical Engineering and 5+ years of work experience in industrial process design; 
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario; 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills; 
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, Office, Project); 
  • Experience with process simulation; 
  • Understanding of instrumentation and PLC systems; 
  • Driven self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit; 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; 
  • Attention to detail and results-focused; 
  • Superior communication skills;  
  • Proficiency in French an asset (but not required); 
  • Valid drivers license.
