New Brine Treatment System

Facing the Challenge

The new facility houses a critical part of the brine treatment process. To meet urgent operational and commercial needs, the project was executed using a fast-track approach to ensure continuity of site operations while maintaining production during construction.

Our Solution

Shellex’s turnkey IAC/EPC (Engineering–Procurement–Construction) services enabled the client to maintain and significantly improve operational efficiency. Shellex delivered the following services:

• Design of a new building, including services, fire safety, ventilation, lighting, water management, and more
• Implementation of new processes (tanks, reactors, filters, and various treatments) for more efficient brine treatment
• Installation of an electrical room
• New cooling water system

The new processes eliminated approximately 4,500,000 m³ of natural gas consumption, resulting in an annual reduction of nearly 8,500 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. The resulting energy savings and GHG reductions enabled Shellex to secure substantial grants for the client, covering over 30% of total project costs.
