The Beginnings of Shellex Consulting Group
Shellex Consulting Group has established a strong reputation as an engineering consulting firm specializing in the industrial sector, thanks to its expertise in industrial processes. Over time, the firm expanded its services to include civil engineering, project management, and construction.
Today, Shellex is known for its multidisciplinary approach, offering a broad range of expertise to meet the diverse needs of its clients. In addition to the previously mentioned fields, Shellex also specializes in building mechanical and electrical systems, structural engineering, energy solutions, decarbonization, and industrial electrical engineering.

Origins and development of the firm
Between 1998 and 2001, specialized in the industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, and construction sectors, Shellex Experts Conseils, Comeau Experts Conseils, and Shellex Consulting Group were founded with a common goal: to offer specialized engineering solutions tailored to clients’ specific needs and to the reality of contractors.
In 2004, Gestion de construction Comeau-Handfield was created to meet the growing demand for integrated, turnkey projects. It became Shellex Construction in 2016.
In 2018, Comeau Experts Conseils became Shellex Infrastructures. Then, in 2020, all professional services were consolidated under a single banner: Shellex Consulting Group.
Shellex Consulting Group and Shellex Construction collaborate to provide comprehensive, efficient, and personalized services to clients in municipal, commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors.
Expansion and diversification
Shellex, based in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield since its inception, has expanded its operations with the addition of new offices in Sainte-Julie (2014), Toronto (2016), and Terrebonne (2017). This expansion has enabled the company to effectively serve the Greater Montreal area and the city of Toronto.
In 2023, Shellex acquired GCI Experts in Energy, enhancing its services with expertise in energy efficiency and decarbonization, and opening a new office in Sherbrooke. In 2024, an office was also established in Quebec City to support growth in the infrastructure sector.
Leadership and Vision 2030
Since 2024, the management has been provided by 4 executives who represent the multidisciplinary nature of the firm. Shellex now has over 130 engineers, technicians, and professionals who can deliver projects of all sizes with efficiency and precision.
The Shellex 2030 Vision emphasizes innovation, partnership, and sustainable performance, aiming to ensure that the company remains a strategic leader in the engineering and construction industry for years to come.

Philippe Bourassa, Eng., M.Eng.
With extensive experience in both design and project management, Philippe is detail-oriented and aims for excellence through teamwork. His initiatives clearly demonstrate that team development is at the heart of his priorities.
Guillaume Pigeon, Eng.
With a strong background in civil engineering, Guillaume began in a technical role before becoming a people-focused manager. He currently oversees the largest department in the firm and remains a key driver of the company’s growth.
